It’s beginning to look a lot like… Christmas party season! Whether it’s your work Christmas party or club bash, here are some on-trend ideas for a fantastic night.
1. Make Your Christmas Party an Immersive Experience
If you’ve been to one work Christmas party, you’ve been to them all, right? Not anymore. Organisations are using the latest audiovisual (AV) wizardry to take their events to the next level, wowing guests with dramatic lighting effects synchronised to music, interactive projections and club-style laser shows. It’s all about creating a theatrical, immersive experience that guests will remember long after they tumble into taxis to go home.
2. Curate the Perfect Christmas Party Playlist
The best playlists for Christmas 2024 will strike just the right balance between traditional favourites and fresh festive releases, with a smattering of recent chart-toppers. While you can’t miss classic bangers like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Wham’s “Last Christmas”, throw in some less played classics like The Waitresses’ “Christmas Wrapping”, Charles Brown’s “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus”, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ rocky spin on “Little Drummer Boy”. Top off the mix with contemporary artists such as Ariana Grande (“Santa Tell Me”), Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson (“War is Over”), and Taylor Swift (“Christmas Tree Farm”).
3. Get Silly with a Selfie Mirror
Photo booths and selfie mirrors are a huge trend, encouraging guests to get playful with props and capture some funny memories to take home in the form of instant prints. Our Mint #Selfie mirror, which incorporates a full length mirror and a touch screen for messages, is expected to be in hot demand this Christmas party season!
Add in other interactive elements with a Christmas-themed quiz (particularly popular for work Christmas parties), an ugly jumper competition, or edible displays such as a gingerbread house and candy cane table centrepieces.
4. Go Green this Christmas
Sustainability has been a key theme for Christmas parties over the past few years, and this is set to continue in 2024. As well as avoiding single use plastics in the form of straws, plates and cutlery, use energy-efficient LED lighting for your event to reduce your carbon footprint.
Replace plastic decorations and tinsel with those made of natural or recycled materials, for example, handcrafted glass or wooden baubles, and materials such as dried flowers and orange slices, pinecones, and cinnamon sticks for table decorations and wreaths.
5. Dance in a Glowing Winter Wonderland
A traditional Winter Wonderland theme never goes out of style. Start with decorations in classic white, silver and blue, then add liberal sprinklings of snow, snowflakes, frost, and fairy lights.
Atmospheric lighting is particularly important to set the scene for a memorable evening, but also consider incorporating additional surprises such as elegant ice sculptures or a twinkling white light up dance floor to add to the magic.
6. Provide Inclusive Food and Drink Options
Ensure everyone can enjoy the nibbles by providing vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives to traditional Christmas party fare. The variety of plant-based and ‘free from’ options has expanded considerably in British supermarkets over the past few years, so there’s plenty to tempt the palate, from nut roasts to ‘no beef’ wellingtons and vegan trifles.
There are also an increasing number of sophisticated alcohol-free alternatives for Christmas party drinks. If you’re offering cocktails, include at least one mocktail based on good quality alcohol-free spirits – some of the new zero alcohol gins have all the complexity and flavour of the alcoholic stuff minus the hangover.
7. Add Festive Surprises to Your Christmas Party
Whatever type of Christmas party you’re planning, throw in some novel elements to add to the fun.
Going for a Winter Wonderland vibe? Add a dash of shocking pink or tangerine orange to contrast with all that ice and snow.
Opting for a selfie mirror? Ask guests to bring their own props, and award prizes for the funniest photos.
Hiring a DJ to keep the party jumping? Book a live saxophonist or electric guitarist to add to the atmosphere on the dance floor.
